For collectors and investors alike, you should buy a Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Box now. Here’s why:
Key Takeaways
- Eeveelutions
- Set value rivals the best
- Shinji Kanda
- Unique, unrivaled opening experience
Prismatic Evolutions is the (Current) Top Dog
Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Boxes are currently going for around $140 USD. I had been screaming for weeks when the boxes were closer to $100 that people needed to buy them. Even at $140 now, they are still worth buying.
Compared to other specialty sets, Prismatic is by far the best we have gotten in the past few years. Prismatic’s total set value, as of February 27, 2025, is $11,352 CAD.
For perspective, 151’s total set value is $2,149 CAD and Crown Zenith’s set value is $2,059 CAD.
As a new set, it should be expected for this total set value to fall a bit, but considering the cards in the set, it is unlikely it will fall much further.
Eeveelutions Can’t Fail
Everyone loves Eeveelutions. The set features special illustration rare (SIR) cards for all the Eeveelutions (Umbreon, Sylveon, Espeon, Flareon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Vaporeon, Jolteon) as well as Eevee. The Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Box also features another Eevee promo card which is already one of the most expensive promo cards from the Scarlet Violet era.

S-Tier Depth
Outside of the Eeveelutions, the set also features a ton of other SIRs that could carry a set on their own. These include Ceruledge, Roaring Moon, Dragapult, Raging Bolt, and Palafin.

Cards like this are crucial for establishing a set as a top-tier investment since any great set has a solid supporting cast of cards.
For context, to give you a better idea of why these cards are important, Evolving Skies has a total set value of $8,439 CAD, almost $2900 less than Prismatic Evolutions.
The Shinji Kanda Effect
One of the cards stated above is the Roaring Moon EX.

The artist for this card is Shinji Kanda.
Sound familiar? It should. Shinji Kanda is one of the most famous Pokemon card artists, drawing some of the most infamous cards of our generation including the Giratina V from Lost Origin (SWSH 11) and the Magikarp from Paldea Evolved (SV02).

Even if we see a pullback in some of the Eeveelution SIR prices, we can expect the Roaring Moon ex to hold solid value and be a top 5-10 chase card simply because it is done by Shinji Kanda.
God Packs
Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Boxes offer buyers one more opportunity not provided by almost any other set: god packs.
A god pack is a special pack of Pokemon cards that contains all of the Eeveelution SIR cards, the Eevee SIR card, and the Eevee Master Ball reverse holo. It is incredibly rare, but an amazing experience for someone if they manage to pull one of those packs.
There is also the opportunity to pull a demi-god pack which features only 3 SIR cards from the set and can be a selection of any 3 of the SIRs.
God packs have only been featured previously in Scarlet Violet 151, which is another great investment from the Scarlet Violet era.
Conclusion
Should you buy a Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Box? Yes. Whether you’re collecting and want an amazing promo card with the opportunity to pull an Eeveelution god pack, or an investor looking to make some long-term investments, Prismatic Evolutions ETBs are the way to go.
Unless we get an ETB reprint, I imagine these boxes will be north of $200 USD by the end of 2025.
