Pokemon collecting and investing has become incredibly popular over the past few years. Many people now view sealed booster boxes as legitimate investments that they can hold over a 3-5 year period and make money on. This is my personal investing strategy that has made me tens of thousands of dollars and helped me build a sealed collection worth over $100,000.

As simple as it sounds, investing in booster boxes can be daunting. The market is changing rapidly and investments that may have been a good investment three months ago, now look less inviting. So today, I will tell you five of the best Pokemon booster boxes to invest in for 2025 that I believe have not only short term, but long term upside.

Are you ready? Let’s go!

#1: Evolving Skies (View on eBay)

Evolving Skies, the best set ever created. No, that is not hyperbole. Evolving Skies contains some of the best cards of the Sword and Shield era, including the most iconic card of the generation the Umbreon VMAX Alternate Art, commonly referred to as the Moonbreon.

Umbreon VMAX Alternate Art, AKA, Moonbreon

Containing many of the other Eeveelutions, as well as Rayquaza, and Dragonite, Evolving Skies is the deepest set of the generation with the most memorable, sought after cards that collectors and streamers will continue to chase in pack breaks for years to come.

Although the current market value is around $1300 USD, I believe this box can easily double within the next 5 years, and eventually will eclipse the $5000 price tag.

#2: Paldea Evolved (View on eBay)

The most underrated set of the Scarlet Violet era. I remember being called crazy back in March 2024 when I made YouTube videos telling people to buy this box at $90. Well, if you want a box now, it’s going to cost you about $200 USD!

Paldea Evolved contains one of the most iconic cards from the Scarlet Violet era, the Magikarp.

The famous Magikarp drawn by Shinji Kanda

This beautiful illustration rare Magikarp was drawn by Shinji Kanda, one of the most famous Pokemon artists who has recently developed a cult-like following. This card has a price tag of over $220 at the time of editing this blog.

The set also contains illustration rares for many popular Pokemon including Raichu, Tyranitar, and trainer Iono.

Combine the popularity of the cards with the fact that the set is almost two years old and rapidly moving outside the reprint window, we could easily see boxes take off over the next 2-3 years and move into the $400 USD range.

#3: Brilliant Stars (View on eBay)

Brilliant Stars, possibly the most underappreciated set from the Sword and Shield era. Featuring some of Pokemon’s most popular creatures like Charizard and Umbreon, Brilliant Stars is not only a fan-favourite for sealed collectors, but also rippers than want to open packs and chase the top hits.

Charizard V from Brilliant Stars, now over $200 raw.

A booster box is currently valued at about $280 USD. The top Charizard V card is pushing $200 raw. The Trainer Gallery Umbreon, Sylveon, and Mimikyu cards are all on the rise. Considering this set is now outside of its reprint window, I would not be surprised to see this box break $500 within the next 2-3 years.

#4: Fusion Strike (View on eBay)

It is no secret that Fusion Strike has gone on a big run. I was buying up Fusion Strike booster boxes for $140 a year ago. Now, they are sitting around $450 USD. At face value, it may seem like all the gains to be made on the set have come and gone, but that’s where you’re wrong.

Espeon VMAX Alt Art from Fusion Strike

Mew VMAX Alt Art from Fusion Strike

Fusion Strike has three of the best chase cards from the entire Sword and Shield era. The Gengar VMAX Alternate Art is currently the second most expensive card in the era, coming in at over $750 USD raw. Not only will people want to open this set in the future for the opportunity to pull one of these incredible cards, but the set was released in 2021 putting it well outside of it’s reprint window, meaning that every single day, there are fewer boxes on the market.

Considered by many to be the second best booster box set of its era (behind Evolving Skies), this will undoubtedly be a $1000 box in the future.

#5: Temporal Forces (View on Hobbiesville)

Temporal Forces probably isn’t a box you expected to see on this list, but there is a reason it is here. Sure, Temporal Forces doesn’t have a massive chase card like Evolving Skies or Paldea Evolved, but the set contains a lot of amazing illustration rare cards in the $40-$100 range, making it one of the deeper sets in the era.

Raging Bolt EX Special Illustration Rare, the top card in Temporal Forces

The set features the Paradox versions of the three legendary dogs: Entei, Raikou, and Suicune. Although not as popular as the originals, fans are still enamored by the artworks and continue to chase these illustration rare cards.

The current market value of a Temporal Forces booster box is about $170 USD, however, you can buy a box right now on Hobbiesville and other third party sites in the $150 USD range.

Considering the set is almost a year old and that Pokemon needs to print more of the in-demand sets like Prismatic Evolutions and Surging Sparks, it’s very likely Temporal Forces goes without a reprint and the scarcity alone propels the box into the $300-$350 range over the next 3-5 years.

Conclusion: There is no Wrong Answer Long Term, Just Less Correct Ones.

If you are planning to invest in Pokemon booster boxes, you need to have a long term mindset. While everyone is focusing on the newest, most popular sets, we should be looking at some of these older sets that are already proven fan favourites that we know will continue to increase in value as supply dwindles.

People will always argue about which investments are the best, and sure, we should think critically about which sets we put our money into. However, with time, you’re more than likely going to see returns on all booster boxes.

Don’t overthink things. Diversify if you want to. And enjoy the hobby!
