Yes, a Surging Sparks booster box investment is a GREAT idea! In this blog post, I’ll explain why.

Solid Depth
Surging Sparks came onto the scene late last year. From the minute the top Special Illustration Cards were leaked, it was obvious Surging Sparks would be a top set.
Now, Surging is not as deep of a set as something like Destined Rivals or Prismatic Evolutions, but it still has many desirable cards. For example, the top chase, Pikachu EX, is worth over $300. The set also contains the Latias EX (currently $180 raw), Milotic EX ($100 raw), and gold Pikachu ($60 raw).
The Right Time to Buy
Another reason why a Surging Sparks booster box investment is a good idea is the timing of its life cycle. The set came out nearly a year ago. Since then, Pokemon has done a good job reprinting the set and keeping the price lower than many other SV era booster boxes. That said, with the increased demand for sets like Destined Rivals and Prismatic Evolutions, it becomes less likely with each passing day that we get more, sizeable reprints.
This was one of the main reasons I recommended buying the set back in early September.
The Price Makes Sense
Obsidian Flames is $320 per booster box. Paldea Evolved is $470 per booster box. And of course, Destined Rivals is now $500 per booster box!
Now, Although I think Destined Rivals and Paldea Evolved are better sets than Surging Sparks, I don’t believe Obsidian Flames is a better set than Surging. I would much rather be loading up on Surging Sparks at $250 than buying Obsidian Flames at $320.
I also don’t think Surging Sparks is that far off from Paldea Evolved in terms of card value. If Paldea can reach $500 per box, Surging Sparks will undoubtedly get there in the future. For me, this is the main reason I am bullish on a Surging Sparks booster box investment.
Conclusion
Surging Sparks is a strong set, at a great price, that is getting older by the day. It might not be the best set of the era, but the current circumstances make it one of the better investments in my eyes.
