As of today, (08/21/2025) an Evolving Skies booster box is worth $2396.60 on TCGPlayer. However, I still believe an Evolving Skies investment is a no-brainer for most investors. In this post, I will explain why I believe that. I will also explain which products to buy and where to buy them.

The Best Sets Give the Best Returns

It is no secret in this hobby that the most desirable sets/products provide investors the highest returns. For example, booster boxes and Pokemon Center ETBs have historically outperformed blister packs and collection boxes.
On top of that, the best sets, like Evolving Skies, Team Up, and 151, perform better than the other sets in their respective eras.
To illustrate this, I have an in-depth ROI analysis you can read. For those of you who want a TLDR, Evolving Skies had an aROI 44% higher than any other SWSH era booster box since release. Obviously, those numbers have changed since February. However, assuming you purchased an Evolving Skies booster box for $120 at release, you’d still have a 112.16% annualized ROI.
This means, that every single year since the box released in August 2021, you’ve more than doubled your money.
Safe From Reprints
As stated above, Evolving Skies was released in August, 2021. Therefore, the box has already rotated out of competitive play and will not receive any more reprints. What does this mean? Well, however much Evolving Skies is remaining, that’s it. No more is coming.
Every single month, week, and day there is less product out there which makes your sealed investments worth more.
Moreover, Evolving Skies is still constantly being opened on Rip & Ship streams and by collectors chasing the Umbreon VMAX.

These are the only arguments needed to be made for Evolving Skies. It’s one of the best sets of the modern era and it is out of print.
Products to Buy
Now, the Evolving Skies investment you make is going to depend on your budget. For investors with a lot of capital, I would, of course, recommend the booster box.
However, if you have a smaller budget, there are still some solid options below that. For example, I am still a fan of the Elite Trainer Box and the more expensive, Pokemon Center exclusive Elite Trainer Box.

For those of you who are new to investing, the only difference between the PC version and the regular ETB are the amount of packs inside. The obvious way to tell the difference is by looking at the text on the front of the box. The Pokemon Center version will be clearly titled as “Pokemon Center” while also having different artwork from the regular version.
For Evolving Skies, there are also two different types of Elite Trainer Boxes that feature different artworks. However, the contents remain the same.
Now, if spending $300-$600 on an Elite Trainer Box is still too much for your budget. I recommend going for sleeved booster packs.

I like sleeved booster packs more than other ancillary products like Build & Battle kits, checklane blisters, or 3-Pack blisters, because they are easier to store and ship. They also tend to provide larger returns compared to those other, less desirable, products.
