Investing in Pokemon is alive and profitable! The markets are continuing to move, so here is an updated list of the BEST Pokemon Booster Boxes to invest in.
#1: Fusion Strike
There isn’t much to say here. Fusion Strike is back on a tear! I have been tracking this box religiously in our private community spreadsheet for weeks now. The box had very low supply on the secondary market with one of the highest sell-through rates out of all the SWSH booster boxes. This was a deadly combination and it’s no surprise the box is now taking off into the mid $600s.
My advice, look at your local LGS, shop Facebook, and try to find some underpriced boxes.
#2: Brilliant Stars
Brilliant Stars is my largest position. It brings a smile to my face that the box is now moving into the $330 range on TCGPlayer.
Similar to Fusion Strike, there is a lower supply on the secondary market compared to most other SWSH sets. If you can find this box around $300, it’s a scoop up in my opinion.
The cheapest price I have found recently in Canada is through Cardboard Hero.
#3: Evolving Skies
Again, not much to say. The best set of the modern era. Full stop. Similarly to the other two SWSH boxes above it, there isn’t a large supply of boxes on the secondary market for the currently sell-through rate we are seeing on Evolving Skies.
It’s important to note that Evolving Skies has the highest annualized ROI out of any set released since February 2020 at over 100% aROI. This box may go down as the best Pokemon booster box investment in history.
This was a box I said could easily reach $2000 within the next 2-3 years, but at the rate it’s going, it may happen at some point in 2025!
#4: Paldea Evolved
Finally, a Scarlet & Violet entry on the list!
Paldea Evolved is the only SV era set that makes sense right now. The box released June 9th, 2023 making it nearly two years old. This normally signifies the end of the print cycle for a Pokemon booster box. Also, Pokemon is still playing catch up, trying their best to pump more Prismatic Evolutions and Surging Sparks on to the market to keep up with demand.
Paldea Evolved is pushing $250 on TCGPlayer, and has one of the best chase cards from the SV era, the Magikarp Illustration Rare, drawn by Shinji Kanda.
The cheapest Paldea Evolved booster boxes on the market right now are on Hobbiesville.
#5: Chilling Reign
My dark horse investment. Chilling Reign is a great booster box to invest in. Why? The set is DEEP. The Blaziken is a great A-tier chase card. The set also contains a Galarian Moltres, which should get some more attention following the Destined Rivals leak.
There does seem to be a bit more supply of Chilling Reign on the market compared to sets like Fusion Strike and Brilliant Stars. However, with those sets moving up in price, it doesn’t surprise me that this booster box is climbing into the mid $300 range as well.
Conclusion: Stick to SWSH Booster Boxes
You can’t go wrong with any box on this list, but the SWSH sets are primed for a move. Having followed the secondary supply of these boxes for the entire year, it is not surprising to me that these SWSH boxes are moving again.
